Federal Government Declares Public Holidays for Eid-ul-Adha 2025

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Friday, 6th June, and Monday, 9th June 2025, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebrations, in a  press statement released by The Ministry of Interior and signed by The Permanent Secretary Dr. Magdalene Ajani, on The 2nd of June 2025.

A Time for Reflection and Unity

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government. In his statement, the Minister extended warm congratulations to the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and across the diaspora, urging them to embrace the spirit of sacrifice and faith exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him).

He also encouraged Muslims to use this sacred period to pray for peace, unity, and prosperity in Nigeria.

Renewed Hope Agenda: A Path to Progress

Dr. Tunji-Ojo reassured Nigerians that the people-oriented reforms and initiatives under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda are designed to restore Nigeria’s progress. He emphasized the administration’s commitment to nation-building and called on all citizens to support the government’s efforts in reclaiming Nigeria’s greatness.

As Nigerians prepare to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha, the Minister urged citizens to foster unity, love, and patriotism. He highlighted the importance of collective effort in achieving a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.
